The question, in short
Two short index questions: solve 150ˣ = 1 for x, and use 3⁻⁸ ÷ 3⁻⁶ = 3ⁿ to find n.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Part (a) · 1 mark
State the value of x for which 150 raised to the power x equals 1.
- 1150ˣ = 1
- 2Any non-zero number raised to the power 0 is 1
- 3x = 0
Answer0
Part (b) · 1 mark
Find n given that 3⁻⁸ divided by 3⁻⁶ equals 3ⁿ.
- 13^(−8) ÷ 3^(−6) = 3ⁿ
- 23^(−8 − (−6)) = 3ⁿ
- 33^(−8 + 6) = 3ⁿ
- 43^(−2) = 3ⁿ
- 5n = −2
