The question, in short

Sector AOB has centre O, radius r cm, angle 1.5 radians and arc AB 12 cm. Find r and the sector area.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.

Part (a) · 1 mark

Use the arc length 12 cm and angle 1.5 radians to find the radius r.

  1. 1l = rθ: 12 = 1.5r
  2. 2r = 8

Answerr = 8

Part (b) · 2 marks

Using your value of r, calculate the area of sector AOB.

  1. 1A = ½r²θ
  2. 2= ½ × 8² × 1.5 = 48 cm²

Answer48 cm²
