0580/21 May/Jun 2022, Question 27: Simultaneous Equations with a Curve
Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580 · Paper 21 (Extended) · Calculator · 4 marks
اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←
The question, in short
Find where the line y = x + 1 meets the curve y = x² − 3x − 11, giving coordinates of both points A and B, showing all working.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Solution · 4 marks
- 1x + 1 = x² − 3x − 11
- 2x² − 4x − 12 = 0
- 3(x − 6)(x + 2) = 0, so x = 6 or x = −2
- 4x = −2: y = −1; x = 6: y = 7
- 5(−2, −1) and (6, 7)
Answer(−2, −1) and (6, 7)
