اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←

The question, in short

Bag A and bag B hold red and yellow sweets; Anna picks from A with P(red) = 2/5, and P(both pick yellow) = 1/10. Find the probability both pick red.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.

Solution · 3 marks

  1. 1P(Anna yellow) = 1 − 2/5 = 3/5
  2. 23/5 × p = 1/10, so P(Ben yellow) = p = 1/6
  3. 3P(Ben red) = 1 − 1/6 = 5/6
  4. 4P(both red) = 2/5 × 5/6 = 10/30 = 1/3
