اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←

The question, in short

From a cumulative frequency graph of 200 students' calculation times, estimate the interquartile range and the count taking over 40 seconds.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Part (a) · 2 marks

Use the cumulative frequency curve to estimate the interquartile range of the times.

  1. 1Lower quartile at cumulative frequency 50: 16 s
  2. 2Upper quartile at cumulative frequency 150: 27 s
  3. 3IQR = 27 − 16 = 11 s

Answer11

Part (b) · 2 marks

Use the curve to estimate how many of the 200 students took more than 40 seconds.

  1. 1At 40 s the cumulative frequency is 194
  2. 2More than 40 s: 200 − 194 = 6 students
