Part (a) · 2 marks
Complete the square.
- 1x² + 8x = (x + 4)² − 16
- 2x² + 8x − 7 = (x + 4)² − 16 − 7
- 3= (x + 4)² − 23
Answer(x + 4)² − 23
Part (b) · 1 mark
State the turning point.
- 1y = (x + 4)² − 23 is least when x + 4 = 0
- 2Turning point (−4, −23)
