The question, in short
Using a scale drawing where 1 cm represents 4 km, work with towns P and Q to find a real distance, measure a bearing, and locate town X.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.
Part (a) · 2 marks
Measure the distance between P and Q on the drawing and convert it to actual km using the scale.
- 1Measure PQ on the drawing: 8.2 cm
- 2Distance = 8.2 × 4 = 32.8 km
Answer32.8 (accept 32 to 33.6)
Part (b) · 1 mark
Measure the bearing of Q from P on the drawing.
- 1Measure the angle clockwise from North at P to the line PQ
- 2Bearing = 065°
Answer065 (accept 063 to 067)
Part (c) · 2 marks
Convert 28 km to a drawing length and mark X at bearing 140° from P.
- 1On the drawing, 28 ÷ 4 = 7 cm
- 2Measure 140° clockwise from North at P
- 3Mark X 7 cm from P along this line
AnswerX correctly placed 7 cm from P on a bearing of 140°
