Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580 · Paper 23 (Extended) · Calculator · 5 marks

اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←

The question, in short

Solve the simultaneous equations y = x² − 3x − 13 and y = x − 1, showing all working.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.

Solution · 5 marks

  1. 1x² − 3x − 13 = x − 1
  2. 2x² − 4x − 12 = 0
  3. 3(x − 6)(x + 2) = 0, so x = 6 or x = −2
  4. 4y = 6 − 1 = 5 and y = −2 − 1 = −3
  5. 5x = 6, y = 5 and x = −2, y = −3

Answerx = 6, y = 5 and x = −2, y = −3
