The question, in short

Given vector AB as the column vector (7, −3), find a scalar multiple of it and its magnitude.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.

Part (a) · 1 mark

Calculate 3→AB as a column vector.

  1. 13→AB = (3 × 7, 3 × (−3))
  2. 2= column vector (21, −9)

Answercolumn vector (21, −9)

Part (b) · 2 marks

Find the magnitude |→AB| of the vector.

  1. 1|→AB| = √(7² + (−3)²) = √58
  2. 2= 7.615… ≈ 7.62

Answer7.62 or 7.615 to 7.616
