The question, in short
Use a scale drawing where 1 cm represents 10 km to find the real distance between towns K and L, measure a bearing, and plot town M from given distance and bearing.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.
Part (a) · 2 marks
Measure the drawn length between K and L and convert it to actual distance using 1 cm = 10 km.
- 1Measure KL with a ruler: 8.5 cm
- 28.5 × 10 = 85 km
Answer85 (accept 83 to 87)
Part (b) · 1 mark
Measure the bearing of L from K using the North arrow at K.
- 1Measure clockwise from the North line at K to the line KL
- 2Bearing = 065°
Answer065 (accept 063 to 067)
Part (c) · 2 marks
Plot M 40 km from L on a bearing of 140°, using the scale.
- 140 km ÷ 10 = 4 cm
- 2From L, measure 140° clockwise from North and mark M 4 cm from L along that line
AnswerM in correct position
