The question, in short

Using a speed-time graph, find the total distance travelled by the car over 25 minutes, with speed rising from 60 to 80 km/h then falling to 0.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Solution · 3 marks

  1. 1Distance = area under the graph, with time in hours
  2. 2First 15 min: (60 + 80)/2 × 15/60 = 17.5 km
  3. 3Last 10 min: 1/2 × 80 × 10/60 = 6.666… km
  4. 4Total = 17.5 + 6.666… = 24.166… ≈ 24.2 km

Answer24.2 or 24.16 to 24.17
