The question, in short
Particle starts from rest at origin with constant positive acceleration; at t = 4, s = 6. Draw a velocity-time graph for 0 ≤ t ≤ 4 and use it to find the acceleration.

Part (a) · 2 marks
On the given grid with velocity axis 0, 2, 4, 6 and time axis 0, 2, 4, draw the velocity-time line for 0 ≤ t ≤ 4.
- 1Constant acceleration from rest: the graph is a straight line from (0, 0)
- 2Displacement = area under graph = (1/2)(4)(v) = 6
- 3v = 3 at t = 4, so the line goes from (0, 0) to (4, 3)
AnswerStraight line from (0, 0) to (4, 3)
Part (b) · 1 mark
Using your velocity-time graph, find the constant acceleration of the particle.
- 1Acceleration = gradient = 3/4 m s⁻²
Answer3/4 m s⁻²
