The question, in short

Using a straight edge and compasses, construct the bisector of angle PSR in quadrilateral PQRS, then shade the region inside PQRS where point X lies closer to PS than to RS.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Part (a) · 2 marks

Construct the bisector of angle PSR using only a straight edge and compasses.

  1. 1With compasses centred on S, draw an arc cutting SP and SR
  2. 2From each of these two points draw arcs of equal radius that cross inside the angle
  3. 3Rule a line from S through the crossing point: this is the bisector of angle PSR (leave the arcs showing)

AnswerAcceptable bisector of ∠PSR with correct arcs

Part (b) · 1 mark

Shade the region inside quadrilateral PQRS where X is nearer to PS than to RS.

  1. 1Points closer to PS than to RS lie on the PS side of the bisector
  2. 2Shade the part of PQRS between the bisector and side PS

AnswerCorrect region shaded.
