4024/13 May/Jun 2026, Question 17: Histograms (Unequal Class Intervals)

Cambridge O Level Mathematics 4024 · Paper 13 (Non-calculator) · Non-calculator · 4 marks

اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←

The question, in short

From a grouped frequency table of 36 parcel masses, complete a histogram, choosing and labelling a frequency density scale; one bar for 3 < m ≤ 3.5 is already drawn.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Solution · 4 marks

  1. 1Frequency density = frequency ÷ class width
  2. 24 ÷ 1 = 4, 9 ÷ 1 = 9, 10 ÷ 0.5 = 20, 8 ÷ 0.5 = 16, 5 ÷ 2 = 2.5
  3. 3The given bar has height 20, so label the axis 2 cm = 5 units
  4. 4Draw bars 1−2 at 4, 2−3 at 9, 3.5−4 at 16, 4−6 at 2.5

AnswerCorrect histogram with vertical axis correctly scaled: frequency densities 4, 9, 20, 16, 2.5 (scale 2 cm = 5 units)
