The question, in short
Line L goes through P(1, 7) and Q(3, −1). Line N is perpendicular to L through P. Find N's equation as y = mx + c.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Solution · 4 marks
- 1Gradient L = (−1 − 7)/(3 − 1) = −4
- 2Gradient N = −1/(−4) = 1/4
- 37 = 1/4 × 1 + c, so c = 27/4
- 4y = 1/4 x + 27/4
Answery = 1/4 x + 27/4
