Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Solution · 3 marks
- 1Range = greatest − least = 40 − a = 14
- 240 − 14 = 26
- 3a = 26
- 4The four numbers are 26, 26, b, 40
- 5Median = average of 2nd and 3rd numbers = (26 + b) / 2 = 30
- 6(26 + b) / 2 = 30
- 726 + b = 60
- 8b = 60 − 26 = 34
Answera = 26, b = 34
