The question, in short

Two similar solids A and B have volumes 1836 cm³ and 4352 cm³; B's total surface area is 1120 cm². Find A's total surface area.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Solution · 3 marks

  1. 1Volume ratio A : B = 1836 : 4352 = 27 : 64
  2. 2Length scale factor = ³√(27/64) = 3/4
  3. 3Area scale factor = (3/4)² = 9/16
  4. 4Surface area of A = 1120 × 9/16 = 630
