اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←

The question, in short

Work out the least number of 16 m² paint tins needed for a symmetric pentagon wall face with base 10 m, vertical sides 6 m and sloping sides 7 m, showing working.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Solution · 5 marks

  1. 1Split the face into a 10 m by 6 m rectangle and a triangle on top
  2. 2Triangle height = √(7² − 5²) = √24 = 4.898… m
  3. 3Area = 10 × 6 + ½ × 10 × 4.898… = 60 + 24.49… = 84.49… m²
  4. 4Tins needed: 84.49… ÷ 16 = 5.28…
  5. 5Round up to whole tins: 6
