The question, in short

Using the universal set ℰ and the given set memberships, complete a two-circle Venn diagram showing sets A and B.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Solution · 3 marks

  1. 1A ∩ B = {5, 10, 15}, so those three go in the overlap
  2. 2A′ = {4, 6, 7, 8, 14}, so A = {5, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15}
  3. 3Taking out the overlap, A only = {9, 11, 12, 13}
  4. 4B′ = {7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14}, so B = {4, 5, 6, 10, 15}
  5. 5Taking out the overlap, B only = {4, 6}
  6. 6What is left goes outside both circles: {7, 8, 14}

AnswerA only: 9, 11, 12, 13 A∩B: 5, 10, 15 B only: 4, 6 outside: 7, 8, 14
