The question, in short
A table gives frame sizes in cm and frequencies for 60 bicycles; find the modal class and estimate the mean frame size.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Part (a) · 1 mark
State which frame-size class has the highest frequency.
- 1The class with the highest frequency is 48 < S ⩽ 54, which has a frequency of 19.
Answer48 < S ≤ 54
Part (b) · 4 marks
Use the table's class midpoints and frequencies to calculate an estimated mean frame size.
- 133 × 4 = 132
- 239 × 14 = 546
- 345 × 18 = 810
- 451 × 19 = 969
- 557 × 5 = 285
- 6132 + 546 + 810 + 969 + 285 = 2742
- 72742 ÷ 60 = 45.7
