Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Part (a) · 1 mark
State which distance interval has the highest frequency.
- 1Highest frequency is 40
- 2Modal class is 5 < d ≤ 10
Answer5 < d ≤ 10
Part (b) · 4 marks
Use class midpoints and frequencies to calculate an estimated mean distance.
- 1Midpoints: 2.5, 7.5, 12.5, 17.5, 22.5
- 22.5 × 26 + 7.5 × 40 + 12.5 × 16 + 17.5 × 10 + 22.5 × 8
- 3= 65 + 300 + 200 + 175 + 180 = 920
- 4Mean ≈ 920 ÷ 100
- 5= 9.2 km
