Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics A 4MA1 · Paper 1F (Foundation) · Calculator · 4 marks

اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←

The question, in short

Using a circle with diameter MON and right-angled triangle MPN where MP = 3.5 cm and PN = 9.7 cm, find the circumference, giving the answer to 3 significant figures.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Solution · 4 marks

  1. 1MN is a diameter and angle MPN = 90°, so use Pythagoras
  2. 2MN² = 9.7² + 3.5² = 94.09 + 12.25 = 106.34
  3. 3MN = √106.34 = 10.312… cm
  4. 4Circumference = π × diameter = π × 10.312… = 32.398…
  5. 5To 3 s.f., circumference (cm) = 32.4
