Part (a) · 1 mark

- 1The frequency is highest for 2 goals, which occurs 7 times.
Answer2
Part (b) · 2 marks
Find the median number of goals scored across the 20 matches.
- 1There are 20 values, so the median is halfway between the 10th and 11th values
- 220 ÷ 2 = 10, so find the 10th and 11th values in order
- 36 matches with 0 goals fill positions 1 to 6
- 46 + 5 = 11, so the next 5 matches, positions 7 to 11, all have 1 goal
- 5The 10th and 11th values are both 1
- 6Median = 1
Answer1
Part (c) · 2 marks
Calculate the total number of goals scored by the team.
- 1(6 × 0) = 0
- 2(5 × 1) = 5
- 3(7 × 2) = 14
- 4(1 × 3) = 3
- 5(0 × 4) = 0
- 6(1 × 5) = 5
- 70 + 5 + 14 + 3 + 0 + 5 = 27
