The question, in short
Use the given grids to perform a 180° rotation of a triangle about (7, 6), then identify the single transformation taking triangle P to triangle Q.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.
Part (a) · 2 marks
Draw the image of the triangle after turning it 180° around the point (7, 6).
- 1In a 180° rotation, (7, 6) is the midpoint of each point and its image
- 2(8, 8) → (6, 4), (8, 11) → (6, 1), (10, 11) → (4, 1)
- 3Draw the triangle with vertices (6, 4), (6, 1), (4, 1)
Answertriangle with vertices (6, 4) (6, 1) (4, 1)
Part (b) · 2 marks
State the one transformation, with all details, that carries triangle P onto triangle Q.
- 1P and Q are mirror images across a vertical line
- 2Matching vertices (3, 5) and (−5, 5): midpoint x = (3 + (−5)) ÷ 2 = −1
- 3Also (5, 5) and (−7, 5) give x = −1
- 4Reflection in x = −1
AnswerReflection in x = −1
