The question, in short
Using a 6 cm square and isosceles triangles with 6 cm base, where square and triangle perimeters match, find the perimeter of a shape made from the square plus three triangles on three sides.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.
Solution · 4 marks
- 1Perimeter of square = 4 × 6 = 24 cm, so each triangle's perimeter is 24 cm
- 2Each equal side of the triangle = (24 − 6) ÷ 2 = 9 cm
- 3Outside edges: 3 triangles × 2 sides of 9 cm, plus the uncovered square side of 6 cm
- 49 × 6 + 6 = 60
