The question, in short

Given a 5 kg mass rounded to the nearest 50 g and a volume of 1.84 × 10⁻³ m³ to 3 s.f., find the upper bound density in kg/m³ to 1 d.p., showing working.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.

Solution · 4 marks

  1. 1Mass upper bound = 5 + 0.025 = 5.025 kg
  2. 2Volume lower bound = 1.835 × 10⁻³ m³
  3. 3Greatest density = greatest mass ÷ least volume
  4. 45.025 ÷ 0.001835 = 2738.41… = 2738.4

Answer2738.4
