Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Part (a) · 1 mark
State which class interval of travel times has the highest frequency.
- 1The class with the highest frequency is 30 < t ≤ 40, which has a frequency of 25.
Answer30 < t ≤ 40
Part (b) · 4 marks
Use the grouped data to estimate the mean travel time for the 60 students, giving the result to one decimal place.
- 1Midpoints: 5, 15, 25, 35, 45
- 25 × 4 = 20
- 315 × 10 = 150
- 425 × 15 = 375
- 535 × 25 = 875
- 645 × 6 = 270
- 720 + 150 + 375 + 875 + 270 = 1690
- 81690 ÷ 60 = 28.166...
