The question, in short
Using a grid with triangles A and B, identify the line of reflection between them, then rotate a shaded shape 90° anticlockwise about the origin.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.
Part (a) · 1 mark
Draw and label the mirror line M on the grid so that triangle A maps onto triangle B.
- 1Identify corresponding vertices of triangle A and triangle B.
- 2Find the midpoint between each pair of corresponding vertices.
- 3All midpoints lie on the line x = −1.5.
- 4Draw the vertical line x = −1.5 and label it M.
Answerx = −1.5
Part (b) · 2 marks
Draw the image of shaded shape C after a 90° anticlockwise turn about (0, 0).
- 1Identify the coordinates of the vertices of shape C: (2,1), (4,1), (2,3), (5,3).
- 2Apply 90° anticlockwise rotation about (0,0): (x,y) → (−y,x).
- 3Rotate each vertex: (2,1) → (−1,2), (4,1) → (−1,4), (2,3) → (−3,2), (5,3) → (−3,5).
- 4Plot the new vertices and draw the rotated shape.
Answer(−1,2), (−1,4), (−3,2), (−3,5)
