Part (a) · 2 marks

Work out how many students gave French as their answer, using the Italian frequency and angle.

  1. 1Italian: 24 students take up 30°, so one student is 30 ÷ 24 = 1.25°
  2. 2French takes up 95°, so the number of students is 95 ÷ 1.25
  3. 395 ÷ 1.25 = 76 students

Answer76

Part (b) · 3 marks

Complete the missing frequencies and pie chart angles for Arabic, English and Spanish, and finish the pie chart.

  1. 1Arabic: 48 × 1.25 = 60°
  2. 2Spanish: 80 × 1.25 = 100°
  3. 3The angles so far are 30 + 95 + 60 + 100 = 285°
  4. 4English angle = 360 − 285 = 75°
  5. 5English students = 75 ÷ 1.25 = 60
  6. 6Draw sectors of 60° for Arabic, 75° for English and 100° for Spanish, and label every sector

AnswerFrench 76, Arabic 60°, English 60 and 75°, Spanish 100°
