4MA1/2H Jun 2021, Question 5: Angles in Parallel Lines

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics A 4MA1 · Paper 2H (Higher) · Calculator · 5 marks

اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←

The question, in short

Using parallel lines ABCD and FGHI with transversals EBGJ and ECH, BE = CE and angle BEC = 44°, find angle JGH, justifying each step.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Solution · 5 marks

  1. 1BE = CE, so triangle BEC is isosceles: angle EBC = (180 − 44) ÷ 2 = 68°
  2. 2Angles on a straight line: angle CBG = 180 − 68 = 112°
  3. 3ABCD and FGHI are parallel, so angle JGH = angle CBG (corresponding angles)
  4. 4Angle JGH = 112
