Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580 · Paper 21 (Extended) · Calculator · 3 marks

اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←

The question, in short

Using a speed–time graph where speed is 12 m/s for 16 s then falls linearly to 0 at 24 s, find the deceleration and total distance.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Part (a) · 1 mark

Find the deceleration of the car during the final 8 seconds from the graph.

  1. 1Deceleration = 12 ÷ 8
  2. 2= 1.5 m/s²

Answer1.5 or 1 1/2

Part (b) · 2 marks

Find the total distance travelled by the car over the 24 seconds.

  1. 1Distance = area under graph
  2. 2= 16 × 12 + 1/2 × 8 × 12 = 192 + 48
  3. 3= 240 m

Answer240
