Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Part (a) · 2 marks
Simplify the fraction 32g¹⁶ divided by 16g⁸, giving the result in its simplest form.
- 132 ÷ 16 = 2 and g¹⁶ ÷ g⁸ = g¹⁶⁻⁸ = g⁸
- 2= 2g⁸
Answer2g⁸
Part (b) · 2 marks
Simplify the expression (625k⁸) raised to the power 3/4.
- 1625^(3/4) = (⁴√625)³ = 5³ = 125
- 2(k⁸)^(3/4) = k⁶
- 3= 125k⁶
Answer125k⁶
