The question, in short

A spinner numbered 1 to 5 is spun many times, giving relative frequencies for each number. Complete the table and find the expected count of 2 in 1500 further spins.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.

Part (a) · 2 marks

Using the relative frequencies given for numbers 1, 2, 4 and 5, work out the missing relative frequency for number 3.

  1. 10.15 + 0.22 + 0.26 + 0.25 = 0.88
  2. 2Number 3: 1 − 0.88 = 0.12

Answer0.12

Part (b) · 1 mark

Using the relative frequency of 2, calculate how many times it is expected to occur in 1500 spins.

  1. 1Expected = 0.22 × 1500 = 330

Answer330
