The question, in short
A kite on a coordinate grid has diagonals crossing at (−2, −5); one diagonal is y = 4x + 3. Find the other diagonal's equation in y = mx + c form.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Solution · 3 marks
- 1Diagonals of a kite are perpendicular: gradient = −1/4
- 2−5 = −1/4 × (−2) + c
- 3−5 = 1/2 + c, so c = −11/2
- 4y = −(1/4)x − 11/2
Answer−(1/4)x − 11/2
