Part (a) · 2 marks
Find the missing probability for the Other category, using that all probabilities in the table sum to 1.
- 1Probabilities add to 1
- 2Other = 1 − (0.4 + 0.32 + 0.17)
- 3= 1 − 0.89 = 0.11
Answer0.11
Part (b) · 1 mark
Using 1800 students and the walk probability 0.32, calculate the expected number of students who walk to school.
- 1Expected number = 0.32 × 1800 = 576
