Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Part (a) · 2 marks
Factorise 4x² + 5x − 6 into two brackets.
- 14x² + 5x − 6 = 4x² + 8x − 3x − 6
- 2= 4x(x + 2) − 3(x + 2)
- 3= (4x − 3)(x + 2)
Answer(4x − 3)(x + 2)
Part (b) · 2 marks
Simplify (16/x⁶)^(−1/2), giving the result in simplified form.
- 1(16/x⁶)^(−1/2) = (x⁶/16)^(1/2)
- 2= √x⁶/√16
- 3= x³/4
Answerx³/4
