Cambridge O Level Mathematics 4024 · Paper 12 (Non-calculator) · Non-calculator · 3 marks

اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←

The question, in short

Solve the pair of simultaneous equations 3x − 2y = 12 and 4x + y = 5, finding the values of x and y.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.

Solution · 3 marks

  1. 1From 4x + y = 5: y = 5 − 4x
  2. 23x − 2(5 − 4x) = 12
  3. 33x − 10 + 8x = 12, so 11x = 22, x = 2
  4. 4y = 5 − 4 × 2 = −3
  5. 5x = 2, y = −3

Answerx = 2, y = −3
