The question, in short

Sheep masses are given in a grouped frequency table with one frequency missing and a partly drawn histogram; use the histogram to find a and finish drawing the histogram.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Part (a) · 1 mark

Use the histogram bar for 15 < m ≤ 20 to work out the missing frequency a.

  1. 115 < m ≤ 20: frequency = frequency density × width = 6 × 5
  2. 2a = 30

Answer30

Part (b) · 2 marks

Draw the remaining histogram bars for the 20 < m ≤ 30 and 30 < m ≤ 50 groups.

  1. 120 < m ≤ 30: 40 ÷ 10 = 4 → draw bar from 20 to 30, height 4
  2. 230 < m ≤ 50: 20 ÷ 20 = 1 → draw bar from 30 to 50, height 1

AnswerRectangle: base 20 to 30, height 4 and Rectangle: base 30 to 50, height 1
