Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.

Solution · 4 marks

  1. 1P(win chess) = 0.42 ÷ 0.6 = 0.7
  2. 2P(lose tennis) = 1 − 0.6 = 0.4
  3. 3P(lose chess) = 1 − 0.7 = 0.3
  4. 4P(win neither) = 0.4 × 0.3 = 0.12
