Part (a) · 2 marks
Fill in the missing probabilities on the tree diagram for dice A and dice B outcomes.
- 1Label the bottom branch from Dice A as 4/6 (yellow)
- 2Label the red branch from Dice B as 1/6
- 3Label the yellow branch from Dice B as 5/6
- 4Repeat for the second set: red = 1/6, yellow = 5/6
Answer4/6, 1/6, 5/6, 1/6, 5/6
Part (b) · 2 marks
Calculate the probability that the two dice both land showing yellow.
- 1Multiply the probabilities for both dice landing on yellow
- 24/6 × 5/6 = 20/36
- 3Simplify 20/36 to 5/9
Answer5/9
