اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←

The question, in short

Using a triangle ABC with straight lines ACD and BCE, reflex angle ABC = 298° and angle ECD = 97°, work out angle x at A, justifying each stage.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Solution · 4 marks

  1. 1Angles around a point add to 360°.
  2. 2Angle ABC = 360 − 298 = 62°
  3. 3ACD and BCE are straight lines, so angle BCA and angle ECD are vertically opposite.
  4. 4Vertically opposite angles are equal, so angle BCA = 97°
  5. 5Angles in a triangle add to 180°.
  6. 6x = 180 − 62 − 97
  7. 7x = 21°
