The question, in short
Use the cuboid's volume 270 cm³ with sides x cm, 12 cm and 5 cm to find x, then work out the cylinder's volume with radius x and height 2x, and convert 1 m³ to cm³.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.
Part (a) · 3 marks
Find x from the cuboid volume, then calculate the cylinder volume using radius x and height 2x, rounded to the nearest whole number.
- 1Cuboid: x × 12 × 5 = 270, so x = 270 ÷ 60 = 4.5
- 2Cylinder volume = π × 4.5² × (2 × 4.5) = 182.25π
- 3182.25π = 572.5… = 573 to the nearest whole number
Answer573
Part (b) · 1 mark
Convert 1 m³ into cm³.
- 11 m = 100 cm, so 1 m³ = 100 × 100 × 100 cm³ = 1 000 000
Answer1 000 000
