The question, in short
Apply Aarav's rule, time = 2.5 × km + 1.5 × stops, to estimate a journey's time from 12 km and 5 stops, then find the distance for a 55-minute journey with 8 stops.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Part (a) · 2 marks
Use the rule with 12 kilometres and 5 bus stops to estimate the journey time in minutes.
- 12.5 × 12 = 30
- 21.5 × 5 = 7.5
- 330 + 7.5 = 37.5
Answer37.5
Part (b) · 3 marks
Given 55 minutes and 8 bus stops, use the rule to estimate the journey distance in kilometres.
- 11.5 × 8 = 12
- 255 − 12 = 43
- 343 ÷ 2.5 = 17.2
Answer17.2
