The question, in short
From a number line inequality, list integer y values satisfying −4 ≤ 2y < 6, and solve 7t − 3 ≤ 2t + 31 showing working.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.
Part (a) · 1 mark
Write the inequality represented by the given number line.
- 1The number line shows a closed circle at 2 and shading to the left, so x is less than or equal to 2.
- 2x ≤ 2
Answerx ≤ 2
Part (b) · 2 marks
List every integer value of y that satisfies −4 ≤ 2y < 6.
- 1−4 ≤ 2y < 6
- 2Divide all parts by 2: −2 ≤ y < 3
- 3y is an integer, so possible values are −2, −1, 0, 1, 2
Answer−2, −1, 0, 1, 2
Part (c) · 2 marks
Solve 7t − 3 ≤ 2t + 31, showing your working clearly.
- 17t − 3 ≤ 2t + 31
- 27t − 2t ≤ 31 + 3
- 35t ≤ 34
- 4t ≤ 34 ÷ 5
- 5t ≤ 6.8
Answert ≤ 6.8
