اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←

The question, in short

Solve a linear inequality in t, then use a diagram to write down the three inequalities whose overlap is the shaded triangular region R.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Part (a) · 2 marks

Solve 7 − 3t < 2t + 15 for t.

  1. 17 − 3t < 2t + 15
  2. 27 − 15 < 2t + 3t
  3. 3−8 < 5t
  4. 4t > −1.6

Answert > −1.6

Part (b) · 3 marks

Write down three inequalities that together define the shaded region R bounded by three lines.

  1. 1The left edge is the line x = 2, R is to its right: x ≥ 2
  2. 2The bottom edge is the line y = 3, R is above it: y ≥ 3
  3. 3The sloping line passes through (0, 9) and (9, 0): x + y = 9
  4. 4R is below it: x + y ≤ 9

Answerx ≥ 2, y ≥ 3, x + y ≤ 9
