The question, in short

On the given grid, plot the straight-line graph of y = 2x − 1 using x values from −1 to 4.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Solution · 3 marks

  1. 1calculate y-values using y = 2x − 1 for x = −1: (−1, 2(−1) − 1) = (−1, −3)
  2. 2for x = 0: (0, 2(0) − 1) = (0, −1)
  3. 3for x = 1: (1, 2(1) − 1) = (1, 1)
  4. 4for x = 2: (2, 2(2) − 1) = (2, 3)
  5. 5for x = 3: (3, 2(3) − 1) = (3, 5)
  6. 6for x = 4: (4, 2(4) − 1) = (4, 7)
  7. 7draw a straight line through all six points from x = −1 to x = 4

Answera straight line passing through the points (−1, −3), (0, −1), (1, 1), (2, 3), (3, 5), and (4, 7)
