The question, in short
On the given grid, plot the straight-line graph of y = 2x − 3 using x values from −2 to 4.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.
Solution · 3 marks
- 1y = 2x − 3
- 2when x = −2, y = 2(−2) − 3 = −4 − 3 = −7
- 3when x = −1, y = 2(−1) − 3 = −2 − 3 = −5
- 4when x = 0, y = 2(0) − 3 = 0 − 3 = −3
- 5when x = 1, y = 2(1) − 3 = 2 − 3 = −1
- 6when x = 2, y = 2(2) − 3 = 4 − 3 = 1
- 7when x = 3, y = 2(3) − 3 = 6 − 3 = 3
- 8when x = 4, y = 2(4) − 3 = 8 − 3 = 5
- 9plot points (−2, −7), (−1, −5), (0, −3), (1, −1), (2, 1), (3, 3), (4, 5)
- 10draw straight line through the points from x = −2 to x = 4
AnswerA straight line through (−2, −7), (−1, −5), (0, −3), (1, −1), (2, 1), (3, 3) and (4, 5)
