The question, in short
A right-angled trapezium ABCD has AD = 15 cm, DC = 14 cm and area 360 cm², with AB parallel to DC. Work out the perimeter of the trapezium.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.
Solution · 6 marks
- 1Area: (14 + AB) ÷ 2 × 15 = 360, so 14 + AB = 48 and AB = 34
- 2Drop a line from C to AB: it is 15 cm tall and 34 − 14 = 20 cm across
- 3BC² = 15² + 20² = 625, so BC = 25
- 4Perimeter = 14 + 15 + 34 + 25 = 88
