WMA11/01 Jun 2025, Question 3: Integration: Undoing Differentiation
Pearson Edexcel International AS Level Mathematics · Pure Mathematics 1 (WMA11) · Calculator · 5 marks
The question, in short
Integrate (x + 3)² divided by 3√x with respect to x and give the result in its simplest form.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Solution · 5 marks
- 1(x + 3)² = x² + 6x + 9
- 2Divide by 3x^(1/2): (1/3)x^(3/2) + 2x^(1/2) + 3x^(−1/2)
- 3Integrate: (1/3)(2/5)x^(5/2) + 2(2/3)x^(3/2) + 3(2)x^(1/2) + c
- 4= (2/15)x^(5/2) + (4/3)x^(3/2) + 6x^(1/2) + c
Answer(2/15)x^(5/2) + (4/3)x^(3/2) + 6x^(1/2) + c
