The question, in short
A five-sided spinner has colours red, blue, green, yellow and orange with a partly filled probability table; complete the missing probability and find the probability of red or blue on one spin.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.
Part (a) · 2 marks
Complete the table by finding the missing probability for orange, using that all probabilities sum to 1.
- 10.3 + 0.16 + 0.18 + 0.25 = 0.89
- 2P(orange) = 1 − 0.89 = 0.11
Answer0.11
Part (b) · 2 marks
Find the probability that one spin lands on red or blue.
- 1P(red or blue) = 0.3 + 0.16
- 2= 0.46
Answer0.46
